About the Course

Welcome to Terrible Teens!

Class is in session!

We've raised a lot of dogs over the years, so can say with some certainty teenage dogs are the worst. So, we designed a course to help everyone get through it with as few grey hairs, carpet stains, and chewed table legs as possible!

Whether your hound is too busy chasing girls to listen to you, has suddenly stopped showing any interest in training, or does a wonderful impression of a yodelling kangaroo when they spot another dog - this one is for you.

Through this class, we explore not just how to manage our dogs through this frustrating developmental phase, but why they do it - arming you with not just the handling skills but the knowledge to understand what is actually going on. knowledge is power, as they say!

We cover lots in this class, and we'll always adjust the course to suit each groups training goals a little, but to give you a idea of just a few things we cover:

  • Recall

  • Essential Cues: Wait, Leave, Touch.

  • Jumping Up

  • Loose Lead Walking

  • Socialising (and what good socialising actually is!)

  • Ignoring Other Dogs

  • Ignoring People

  • Impulse Control (or, "Please think before you do!)

  • Settling

  • Managing Frustration

  • Managing Sleep

And more!

As you can see, it's a fair bit, so each class is packed from start to finish. If that wasn't enough, in our final class of the six we'll also introduce you to some fun tricks, trials and obstacle course-style games which are not only fun, they'll put all the work you've put in through the course to the test.

The course has been designed from the ground up by our Behaviourist Laura Gault, utilising both her scientific understanding of our dogs behaviour & biology and her personal experience raising over a dozen dogs through their teenage phase to ensure this course is constructive, achievable, and packed with essential, yet fun, training.

"That's a big bath..."
"That's a big bath..."

We host this class at Peacehaven Dog on a Saturday morning, 11:15am.

At each class we also bring the Valhalla Feasting Hall, with a huge range of chews and treats carefully selected and tested by our very own Valhalla Hounds. Everything is chosen to be puppy-safe, so you can stock up and keep them occupied without concern. Pick up something from our store, head home, and watch as they sink their teeth in until they pass out.... Then go and enjoy a quiet afternoon!
